Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most

What is NutriGes and how is it different from other calorie counters?

NutriGes is a cloud nutrition and training coach. As well as counting calories and macros, it calculates your real energy use from what you eat and your weight trend, and adjusts your plan every week, explaining why. It includes a barcode scanner, photos of labels and dishes, training plans and an AI assistant, Nuria.

How does NutriGes know how many calories I burn?

It estimates it by combining a published basal metabolism equation with what really happens: your logged meals and how your weight changes. If you eat more than you burn on average, your weight goes up, and the other way round. With that information the engine refines your expenditure week by week, without sudden changes.

Do I have to log every day?

No. In our simulations, expenditure is estimated with a typical error of about 64 kcal even when logging only half of the days. The more data, the better, but a day without logging doesn't spoil anything: you can mark it as incomplete or leave it out.

Is the supermarket product data reliable?

The data comes from Open Food Facts, an open collaborative database, and is based on the nutrition table on the label, which is mandatory by law in the European Union (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011) and has official tolerances. Each figure shows its source and you can correct it if you spot an error. Manufacturers reformulate, so we store the date of each figure.

What if I scan a product and it doesn't appear?

Take a photo of its nutrition table, the AI reads the values and you confirm them. The product is saved and available to all users. In the meantime you can use “quick add” with the kcal and macros.

Who is Nuria, and can I switch her to Nuño?

Nuria is NutriGes' artificial intelligence assistant. She knows your figures, explains changes to your plan, answers nutrition and training questions and understands voice commands. If you prefer a male voice, change it in Settings and the assistant will be called Nuño.

Does NutriGes replace my doctor or my dietitian?

No. NutriGes is a general wellness tool: it does not diagnose or treat diseases. For diabetes, pregnancy, breastfeeding, minors, eating disorders, medication or any clinical situation, Nuria refers you to your doctor or a registered dietitian-nutritionist.

What does NutriGes do with my health data?

It uses it only to calculate your plan and help you, with a separate explicit consent that you can withdraw at any time. It is not sold or handed over. You can export or delete it and, if you use NutriGes with your gym, the centre sees nothing without your permission.

Do I need to install anything? Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Nothing to install from any store. NutriGes works in the browser on your phone, tablet and computer, and you can add it to your home screen to have its icon and open it full screen. The scanner uses your browser's camera.

How much does it cost?

You can try it for free and there is no lock-in: you cancel whenever you like. You'll see the subscription details when you create your account, and we'll let you know before each renewal.

Is it good for building muscle or only for losing weight?

It works for all three goals: losing fat, maintaining or building muscle. You choose your goal and your pace, and the nutrition and training plan adapts. We don't promise specific results: your body sets the pace and NutriGes adapts to it.

Want to try it with your own food?

Try it free, with no commitment and nothing to install, or create your account straight away.

NutriGes is a general wellness tool. It is not a medical device and does not replace your doctor or dietitian.
